Let’s Talk About Me!
No, really, this entire page is about me. Enjoy.
The Jist
My name is Maeve Fitzgerald and I am a senior at Suffolk University studying print/web journalism with a minor in public relations.
I grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts, a suburban town surrounding the outskirts of Boston. I spent my childhood skating on the Frog Pond during Christmastime and scarfing down franks at Fenway Park with my family, so it is no surprise to me that I ended up wanting to attend college in the middle of the city. Boston is etched into my upbringing and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have an older sister, Caleigh, who is 21 and one of the most driven and inspiring people I have ever met. I also have a younger brother, Gavin, who is 18 and is the smartest student athlete I have ever met. To say the least, my siblings are two of my favorite people to walk this Earth. My mom is a walking embodiment of resilience, empathy, and kindness and my dad is one of the funniest people to walk this Earth, and without him my music and movie taste would be disappointing and appallingly horrible.
My entire life, I have loved all things romantic- poetry, music, movies, stories- the vessels into which love is poured. I’ve spent two decades on this Earth chasing the feeling of understanding people and places, and I’m happy to say that I am able to dedicate the rest of my life to this feeling of fulfillment through my endeavors in journalism.
I hope to be a published author some day, but not until I have seen the world and experienced the enrichment of differing cultures. I plan to be a print journalist with hopefully some experience in broadcast and to travel the world reporting on culture, music and major events.
I recently studied abroad in Madrid where I cultivated an immense love for travel. I traveled to Portugal, Italy, London, Switzerland, and all throughout Spain. I travelled to Ireland this summer as well and plan to visit Prague, Vienna, and Budapest next year as well.
If it’s not already clear enough, I’m a sappy romantic with an affinity towards the expression of life’s fleetingness. I’m the friend that will tell you they love you often and notice when you’ve changed something about your look or even got a new shirt. In my blog, “the art of noticing,” I delve into the moments of life that we take for granted, offering perspective on situations. We’re all here for a good time and not always a very long time, so my mission in life is to love each moment whole-heartedly
